About Babilon
Babilon was founded by the Swiss voice actor and voice talent Roy Gablinger and a network of experienced professional voice-over artists and dubbing voice actors from all over the world. Roy Gablinger has many years of experience organising voice-overs for clients in his own name in a whole range of different languages from French and English to Nidwald dialect, Mandarin and Tigrinya.
With the founding of the Babilon voice-over boutique a comprehensive, international range of voices is now available online.
Exclusively for Switzerland at: babilon.ch and for international clients at: babilon.com.
Founder
It was while attending acting school in Zürich that Roy Gablinger began working as a voice artist. After a few assignments doing voice-overs for Swiss television, he decided to go self-employed and set up his own studio. In addition to numerous TV and radio commercials, narrations and voice-overs he has also supplied the voice for animations such as Asterix and Titeuf, as well as “Guetnachtgschichtli” and radio plays like Philip Maloney. Many will also know him from the Champions League ad breaks or the legendary daily web series Zappin’.
Philosophy
We are much more than just a voice-over agency. Finding just the right voice artists to satisfy our clients is our passion. Our network and voice talent archive is extensive and it goes without saying that we only work with professionals who use the very best voice and studio technology. Working in this market ourselves we know precisely what is involved in choosing a voice in order that the right person is cast and the end product ends up sounding exactly as the client had imagined it before production.
Babilon operates independently. We are first and foremost service providers and that informs what we do. We try to put ourselves in the client’s position and ask ourselves what advice we would expect to be given and what the best way forward would be. This way of working has always yielded excellent results. One of our clients even went so far as to say that in fact she didn’t feel like a client at all, more like a partner. For us personal interaction, spending time with clients and always being proactive come as standard.
Every project starts with the client’s original idea, his concept. We will then advise, but never pressurise. Because the client knows his product or project better than anyone, and he also knows his budget. Taking these factors into account we try to come up with the best solution. Often this will be the quickest solution because we are well aware that voice-overs and voice recordings are often the final link in a chain and speed is of the essence.
We will always find time to talk to you. On one occasion a film production company needed a voice recording in just two hours. We were able to respond immediately.
And we also recognise that there is such a thing as low-budget productions. If that’s you, just ask for a quote that takes this into account. Because there’s nothing worse than getting tied up in long-winded processes that just aren’t necessary.
Unlike other associations or classic voice-over agencies we don’t work to fixed price lists. Because an annual TV campaign for a listed company is not the same as a three-week local ad for a seven-man joinery firm. And a lavishly-produced image film can’t be compared to producing an e-learning course for a hundred employees.
We like to work as a team with all our clients. As partners, in fact.

Many, many years ago – it happened to be in a sound studio in our beautiful capital city – I was booked for a radio commercial for a car showroom. After a few takes, the client suddenly said: «Do you think you could possibly make it a bit more shaken not stirred?»
As it happened, I had been watching a James Bond film the previous evening – I guess the client had too – and so I was able to get into the right groove, imagine that I was on Her Majesty’s Secret Service and produce some pretty cool takes. Result: one happy client!
