After 40 plus years of doing voice-over, which I enjoy immensely, one of the things, that always makes me smile and then sometimes frustrates me is the direction we get: Sometimes on a session, but very frequently on an audition. Recently I had an audition for a radio spot and it said, you are an older person, around 55, but not feeble.
Just a few gigs ago actually, this came through: “We are looking for a Morgan Freeman type of voice-over. But young and no ethnicity.” That’s a stumper.
